Our story
About Write Your Life
A writing initiative rooted in community, accessibility, and the belief that everyone has a story worth telling.
Where we come from
Writing belongs outside the classroom too.
Write Your Life began with a straightforward observation: access to serious, attentive writing education is uneven. Inside universities and MFA programs, writers receive close feedback, mentorship, and community. Outside those institutions, for most people, that kind of support is hard to find and harder still to afford.
We started this initiative in the Greater Toronto Area because this city is full of people with stories and not enough structured, accessible spaces to help them write. We wanted to build something that took the work seriously without requiring a degree.
The result is a small initiative that works directly with individuals and communities: seniors who want to put their lives on the page, students finding their voice, authors refining manuscripts they've spent years writing.
What guides us
Our values
Accessibility
Good writing education shouldn't require an institution. We work to make thoughtful, serious feedback available to writers who wouldn't otherwise have access to it.
Community
Writing is often solitary work, but it doesn't have to be lonely. We create spaces where writers can feel part of something — heard, supported, and connected.
Craft
We take the work seriously. Whether it's a memoir, a screenplay, or a poem, we approach every manuscript with genuine attention and respect for what the writer is trying to do.
Inclusion
We work with people across generations, backgrounds, and experience levels. Everyone deservers the same quality of attention, feedback, and mentorship.
